Warhammer 40k is a Bad and Grimdark Canon!
The "Warp" is where she draws her psychic powers from - it's an alternate dimension of psychic energy that exists underneath/alongside normal reality. Sorcerers/psykers trying too hard to tap into this energy, or messing with things that they don't understand are liable to experience exploded heads, nosebleeds, screaming, etc etc. Pretty gross body horror stuff, so do be aware of that!
